Organizational Structure
The Kindergarten through 8th grade charter Khalsa Montessori School is a non-profit 501-(c)-(3) corporation that is under contract with the State of Arizona and run by the KMS administration in partnership with teachers and parents. The KMS Board of Directors includes two parents, two teachers, a community representative, and the school director. The KMS Site Council consists of the school director and teaching staff. The private preschool of the Khalsa Montessori School is a sub-unit of 3HO Arizona, Inc., a non-profit 501-(c)-(3) educational corporation. 3HO (Healthy, Happy, Holy Organization) was founded in 1969 by Yogi Bhajan and dedicated to the development of the individual through the techniques of yoga, meditation, healthy diet and service. 3HO is affiliated with Sikh Dharma of Phoenix, Inc., a non-profit religious organization, which owns 3HO and Khalsa primary and toddler school properties. The KMS Primary and Toddler Site Council consists of the school director, assistant director, and teaching staff.
The KMS is a community of families, teachers and administrators working together to create a positive environment that lays the foundation for those habits of mind that support happiness and success both in school and in life. The partnership of teachers and parents encourages the exchange of information and ideas for successful child rearing and education, and offers support for the challenges of today's parents. Parent/Teacher communication is encouraged through the initial assessment and interview meeting, the beginning of the year parent/teacher goal setting meeting, the opening parent evening, biannual parent/teacher conferences, parent evenings, monthly Khalsa newsletters, and classroom observations. The KMS Parent Teacher Organization is comprised of parents of enrolled students and teachers who are committed to making a difference in their children's education. The PTO's mission is "To enhance the delivery of excellence in education and cultivate the community of Khalsa Montessori School."
