Shawntele “Treasure” Howie
Treasure joined the Khalsa Montessori School in August of 2008. Treasure has completed her AMS Montessori Teacher certification through South Mountain Community College. Previously to coming to KMPS, Treasure was an Indoor and ODE Assistant at Villa Montessori in a 3-6 classroom; she also worked at UMOM New Day Center as a Lead Teacher for two years. Treasure has studied at ISIS Southwest Expressive Arts, and the University of Pittsburgh School of Social Work. She is certified as a Catalyst for Community Buildingand as a Music Together (movement and music) instructor. Treasure hopes to complete her doula (birthing companion) training this year.
Treasure has held several volunteer positions with the Women’s Resource Center, the Herberger Theatre, the Phoenix Birthing Project, the Waldorf Foundation, the Black Poet Society, Ten Thousand Villages (Multi-Cultural International Education program), and the Aloha Festival. She is a novice musician and percussionist.
