Before coming to Khalsa School as a Toddler Directress in 1998 Jan had amassed 7 years of teaching experience and was well known in the valley as both a teacher and the author of Awakening Your Toddler's Love of Learning.
Nutrition as it applies to the child's educability, behavior, and mood has been an interest of Jan's for years. Her newest book; Nutrition for Learning: Feeding the Starving Brain is a culmination of nutritional research, studies abroad, and practical experience as a Montessori directress.
Jan is now a certified Foresight pre-conceptual care practitioner focusing on nutritional and environmental fertility and prenatal influences for couples planning pregnancy. She also specializes in dietary intervention for children with learning difficulties. Jan has a private practice. She studied preconceptional and prenatal nutrition under the guidance of Belinda Barnes, founder of Foresight and nutrition for neurodevelopment and function with Professor Michael Crawford of the Institute of Brain Chemistry and Human Nutrition (The London Metropolitan University).
Jan is a freelance writer and scientific researcher for the Nutrition and Health Journal; a publication of The McCarrison Society in the UK. She received her Montessori accreditation from Nimal Vaz at the Montessori Educational Center in Phoenix, Arizona.
